George O'Connor is the author and illustrator of several picture books, including the New York Times bestselling Kapow! , Ker-Splash! , Sally and the Some-Thing and Uncle Bigfoot. In 2006, he adapted the journals of the 17th century explorer/barber/surgeon Harmen Meyndertsz van den Bogaert into the graphic novel Journey into Mohawk Country, published by First Second Books. His second graphic novel, Ball-Peen Hammer, written by novelist and playwright Adam Rapp, was released in October 2009. George is a founding member of Studio XOXOs (Hugs and Kisses) in Brooklyn, the borough where he also lives. His most recent publication is a multi-volume series retelling the Greek myths as graphic novels called Olympians; with the first two volumes entitled Zeus: Father of the Gods and Athena: Grey-Eyed Goddess. You've Got Homework! We've Got Help!

Brentwood Public Library now offers help from real, live tutors right at the library via the Internet!
Live Homework Help is available for 4th – 12th grade and college introduction level students daily from 3-11 pm. This program connects students to a real live tutor. Just log on to http://brentwoodnylibrary.org/homework.html, enter barcode located on the back of the library card and click. Then enter grade level and the subject needed help in and within a few minutes or less are connected to an expert tutor. Students can receive help in math, science, social studies or English. If you’d like to learn more about the program, please call the library at (631) 273-7883 extention 319.
